Thank you Schatten. All my melodies are variations on the same notes and progressions I've been playing since college. Melodies are just patterns and shapes, usually symmetrical divisions of time. A guitar makes more sense in regards to "shapes" as there are some shapes that sound good regardless of where you are on the neck. Piano is more linear than guitar but it's the same principal. Once you grow a feeling for what intervals are going to sound good, it all just becomes playful hand spasms :)
